To put that into perspective, head units on the market today are 8 to 13 dBf...with the middle of that range being most common. That's 3 decades later.
Ive been doing some research on vintage 70s 80s & 90s car audio.
One interesting tidbit is the evolution of the Pioneer FM tuners. The analog tuners went from 20.1 dBf sensitivity (late 70s) to 16.3 db sensitity (early 80s) and then, when they went to digital...they moved to 12dBf and then to 11.3dBF (mid 80s).
That's quite an improvement in less than 10 years.
