I believe you about Xitter, and I'm 100% in agreement on Nostr philosophically and in terms of personal experience.
BUT... many people are asking for more curation options in the client. If this keeps them from trying to add more curation in the protocol and relays, then not only do I endorse it but I'm willing to do some of the work.
