Interesting reflection.

So many points to think about here, there's no definitive answer, I guess.

People can be afraid to show themselves for many, many reasons, notably the gov. persecution that is increasing hugely.

Others just find funny to have an "avatar", or character; besides, there's always the fakers and criminals, unfortunately.

Some could be just shy, including about topics they're not confident enough, but want to express something anyways.

And yes, it's a shame that we cannot be 100% ourselves all the time, but this is how we're living for centuries.

Looks like your question is: can we trust people that doesn't show their faces? Sometimes, yes. It's pretty common on developer's communities. Don't trust, verify they say =)
