The modern concept of demons did not originate until around the 1200s with the word demon. Derived from the word Daemon which refers to guardians and helper spirits, the term is often used as the mistranslation of "Foreign gods."

If you read older Christian texts, creatures like Succubi and Incubi weren't even lumped in as negative entities. There is a famous account of a priest encountering centaurs. One of whom had converted to Christianity and the priest prayed with him.

Understanding the evolution of Christian beliefs over the centuries really shines a light on a lot of the misperceptions of modern times.

Originally Jesus was not dubbed Christ. He wouldn't be dubbed such until 325. Until then he was a wise teacher. The bible describes the anti Christ as anyone who does not believe in the bible.

The one world religion was Christianity.
