I directed my first excavation in 1997, when I was 25. We painstakingly investigated a mound with an obvious robber pit on the edge of a cemetery section at Barshalder where nobody had reported any finds before. We hardly made any artefact finds either (because obviously robbed, duh) but we got a clear date in the Early Roman Period. 1/2
