I don't believe it is as easy as a dentists appointment.
But life changing surgery during your <18 years is, well, astounding to ever be supported on such weak assertations made by the patient, who very often regret it later.
I cannot support it. Make the decision when you're over 18, and make it with a lot of pause because it's most likely not what you want - and I cannot recommend it.
