Surströmming (selfhost arc) (npub1qge…ns25) sounds like a fine plan to me. ECC should work fine, i've gone with unbuffered DIMMs for my 2600 'cause i've read somewhere that that's the only working solution. Dunno if that still applies to 5000 series chips though!
