Astronomers have measured different expansion rates in the nearby Universe compared to observations of the cosmic microwave background. This is known as the Hubble tension, and it was hoped that JWST would provide some kind of resolution. Over the last two years, the telescope has confirmed the accuracy of Hubble telescope observations, seeing even more objects that allow astronomers to build a highly accurate distance measurement ladder out to 130 million light-years.
