George Santos, a former US Representative, pleaded guilty to wire fraud and identity theft in federal court. He was set to begin trial on 23 counts of wire fraud, identity theft, and false statements to the Federal Election Commission. Santos was expelled from the House of Representatives in December after a damning report found 'substantial evidence' of campaign fraud and other violations.
