Now, a much more complicated situation would arise if a candidate were to drop out, die, or become unavailable *after* the nominating conventions and state ballot access deadlines. How that would be handled varies based on state laws. But right now, every state is still waiting for the parties to officially notify them (after the conventions) who their candidates and electors are.
