Somehow I'm still amazed that TCP sucks so hard. There is pretty much no reason to use TCP these days, except that until recently it was the only way to handle somewhat reliable data transmission. Fortunately, QUIC is a thing today. Though, it would just make sense to throw out UDP and TCP entirely and just run QUIC over IP directly.
