IIRC the ending was from some other story the author wrote, wasn't directly connected. Apparently Caspian wasn't a thing in the original story.
I liked seeing the future UI society and whatnot. More time there would've been nice.
I'm still not entirely clear on how the ending could've happened. Caspian needed to reach the conditions David got him at to communicate with Safesurf in the initial timeline, to convince it to leave. Maddie probably kills herself IRL.
But then, the only way Caspian could give the information on the date is if Safesurf from outside the simulation interfered. So why bother with the whole Maddie creating dyson sphere simulations to regenerate Caspian if he already had a simulated Caspian???
