Summary: Nostr has counteracting forces of a lack of big VC money that can be directed at a central source because Nostr isn’t a business with any path to equity monetization (although specific applications do) versus openness and permissionlessness, which allow for interoperability and cumulative adoption between applications.

I’d add: An “X factor” for Nostr adoption, which no one can predict, is the severity of censorship on legacy platforms. More censorship=more Nostr adoption.
