It’s really dumb and nobody would put up with it anymore, but I miss the virtual bus stops of Star Wars Galaxies’ early years.
In the beginning, at shuttle ports (only goes to other planetary shuttle ports) and starports (goes to other planets), you had 1 minute to board the shuttle when it arrived.
If you missed it, you would have to wait 10 minutes for the next one.
This sounds horrible but I made a lot of friends conversing with other people waiting for the shuttle. It’s odd to think about. But it did generate interesting interactions. It also made it into a chokepoint for the Galactic Civil War stuff, and jedi being chased by bounty hunters (back when jedi were extremely rare, grew to be very powerful, but lost all their experience when a bounty hunter killed them).
Eventually it was reduced to 5 minutes, then 1 minute, but by then the “Jump to Lightspeed” expansion came out and everyone had at least the poverty Z-95 spacecraft or w/e and that was enough to go to different planets for free.
