my Windows sysadmin friend of mine was assigned a Linux sysadmin task because everyone else was vacation.
it was about resizing partitions on a VMware machine.
he started asking me for help after he had already run resizefs on a mounted filesystem (eek!), without resizing the volume/mapper devices first (eek!), and he was trying to do this without downtime 😬
