There were 3 Minecraft servers with Bitcoin.
1 rugged people
1 had ASIC Miners in game and a sponsor that provided a faucet of sorts. People had to buy the ASICs with real money and then the profits of the blocks, "Lottery" were shared with the devs and the players. They had a Bitcoin theme, but it was "virtual currency" in game with simple rails in and out and a manual process to withdraw. What people didn't realize is that they were a pyramid and an unsustainable model long term. Microsoft shut them down too because they were pay/play to win. They were about 10x my size because of the "GaInS" for the players.
I want a world that my kids and any kids can join. Learn value for value and that there is no dopamine drip. I want people to learn Bitcoin for what it is, sound money. Paying money in order to win is gambling and gets a lot of people traveling a path they cannot escape easily. This is more true for children. I don't want it to be profitable other than covering expenses to scale if needed, learning personally, and getting my name out there. Donations are okay too. If it's profitable from the players, then the players are not seeing the benefit of value for value because the liquidity would be extracted by me or another server operator. If a person is not interested in profiting, they can help me.
People can contribute once I know they have the same ethos. Once I'm big enough it will go public because at that point I'll have enough scale to be noticed even if someone uses what I made to do something that is opposed to my design.
Lastly, Microsoft thinks I'm breaching their terms even though I'm not. They don't want in game money that can be exchanged for real money. My money actually isn't even in game. The game is used as an interface to money that resides outside of the game. This is no different than a Visa transaction for in game items, it's just far more efficient and player to player. So there is a fight on that end too and if I was not running my own infrastructure I would have already been shut down. The string "sovereigncraft" anywhere in the dns of a server name is already blocked.
So with all that said. There is no sense in my releasing the code publicly. If someone wants to contribute, I have many ways they can for a common goal.
