It's so funny that people don't see the problem with censorship and thought control. A government that instantiates it lasts only until the next election, if even that, and then the new government takes the whole censorship-surveillance apparatus and changes the censorship rules.
Then, people are surprised that those that were elected decide to flip the switch.
Censorship resistant social networks with heavy use of cryptography are the only real defense against the bad will of government actors.
