This is Jane Austen's House, in the village of Chawton, in Hampshire - as seen on a wet July day a year or two ago. Jane lived here from 1809 until shortly before her death in 1817. It was from here that she published each of her six completed novels. Today it is partly a lovely example of C18th vernacular architecture, and partly a shrine to the ineffable Austen. It's well worth a visit if you are down that way.
