Generally, the more you earn, the more expensive your lifestyle, and the less likely you are to have enough in reserve to cover an emergency. It's why I was taught to always strive to live below my means, but as you get older, you pick up more responsibilities, and the cost of living goes up, etc, it gets really difficult.... :/
