People used to get all worked up about Cassette Deck specs with the higher end units being speced up to 17 or 18 khz before being 3 decibels down, but I always preferrred cassette decks that rolled off the upper frequencies at aroud 11-13 khz (3db down).
For the same reason that I prefer silk dome tweeters, which have a smooth sound to them, not harsh.
Personally I love this 1970s Pioneer KP-500 Cassette Radio.
