Working back up my original list:
Q: Who gets to be an "IP specialist," anyway?
A: As we've seen, there's no formal, national IP specialization credential. Joining the patent bar doesn't mean you understand all areas of patent law, let alone copyright or trademark law (each of which are complex and difficult in their own rights). But, for various reasons, it is easier to get into the IP field if you are a member of (or are eligible to join) the patent bar.
