Maybe, but that isn’t what we have. We all have differing sensibilities and rules of engagement, and there is no central authority to impose uniformity. So if you post a public post, you’re publicly entering a world that doesn’t have to abide by your conception of the rules. There’s going to be friction.

But it certainly doesn’t bother me if people want to exit the public sphere and build gated communities for themselves.
