If you can draw a connection between Cat in the Hat & what I write, then yes. Otherwise, fantasy fiction entered my life at fifteen. Neither parent read fiction.
In a sense, though, fantasy was in my life from the beginning—inside my head. I’d imagine other lives, other places. Many of my characters draw from childhood imaginings I denied even to myself. My confusion & fear was that great.
