I am running #GrapheneOS (Android v14), which means...
Finally got around to acquiring* a Pixel 7 Pro! (*not purchased through the usual fiat channels).
Observations:
Getting my various apps re-installed in their respective User instances was, after an initial false start, rather simple. I have opted to have Main almost empty of apps. I have a 2nd for all the usual nonsense. I have a 3rd, that is locked down, and contains my fintech apps.
I'm carrying a physical wallet around now, due to the fact that Google Wallet is unusable in GrapheneOS.
I have ONE Google app installed(not counting GMS and GSF). I have opted for GBoard because the Swipe To Type implementation is the best there is. My GBoard has zero permissions and zero 'net connect.
Using my phone now feels exactly the same as how using my laptop feels. I know what I'm connected to and nothing happens without my say-so. And in the same way that we all seem to have breathed a sigh of relief, from migrating from Bird App to #Nostr, suddenly any tension that I felt from being attached to Google is no longer there. I am at peace.
