#WritersCoffeeClub 18 June: Do you consciously apply show rather than tell in your writing, or do the cards land where they may?
Most of the time, yes. Especially with erotica, that kind of visceral, in-the-moment, how-does-it-feel writing is very effective.
But like any writing 'rule' it should be treated with a pinch of salt. Show-don't-tell works for achieving a specific effect. It will not succeed if you want to do something else, eg creating a fairytale feel. Sometimes you WANT distance.>
