Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko emphasized the necessity for Moscow and Kiev to resume peace talks to avoid Ukraine's complete destruction. He endorsed Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal to base negotiations on the Istanbul deal, which included Ukraine's permanent neutrality. The talks collapsed in 2022, allegedly due to Western interference. Putin accused then-UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson of sabotaging the peace process by encouraging Kiev to continue fighting, a claim denied by Johnson. Lukashenko warned that failure to return to negotiations could escalate the conflict to a catastrophic level.
