Hashtags are IMO the best way to find folks of similar interest such as #art and #artstr or #photography or lots of other possibilities. Use #asknostr for any questions - Nostr related or not. Technical or not.
Because there is no algorithm, you have to create your follow list yourself, which does take time and effort.
Zaps are the most valuable differentiator for me. I can send someone sats (real value compared to a “like”) for the content they share. Someone can send me sats, some of which I send to cold storage to save for the future, some of which I zap on to others.
Nostr is still very early. Very Wild West compared to the decades of infrastructure in the Big Cities. Which can be fun and frustrating at the same time. 😉
