The objections to putting down the fossil carbon, sobering up, and getting the work done arise uniformly from the people who get their de facto extrajudicial status and wealth from controlling fossil carbon extraction. They're having a big public bout of immense personal weakness, deficient character, and flabby analysis. They're not correct about any of this; they're just a long way down a fear-makes-you-stupid spiral, and trying to drag everybody along with them.
