There was a time when Twitter is for 140 symbols text posts, Instagram is for poor-quality photos under silly filters, etc. Then, suddenly every service is trying to be everything else. At first, Instagram integrated Snapchat features, then TikTok, and now they are trying to make their own Telegram channels.

If you understand what network effect is, then you understand why Zuckerberg is trying to include everything behind the one icon in your phone. There is no second-best network. Platforms are fighting each other to become the new network standard. As a result of this fight, we got 3-4 identical services with a different demographic structure.

Now try to find yourself an email app. All are different. That is how competition within one protocol works. Nobody is trying to become protocol itself but to find a niche. So I expect to see many different apps build on nostr. Only the market knows what would they look like. But I think that all-in-one apps are in the past.
