This is a useful read, and a reply to Dan McKinley's classic "use boring technology", "you have a limited supply of innovation tokens" argument.
It is not a rebuttal - the idea that a useful metaphor calls for a rebuttal is part of it! - but it makes an important, point, I think, about what happens when useful figures of speech evolve into tools that get abused.
