# What Happened to the Fydetab Duo?
The "hackable" Fydetab Duo is finally here and being shipped!
It took a while, but orders are being shipped to those that pre-ordered them.
In this [video just released by FydeOS's support guy Alpha](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr0F-jeX_yY), he talks about how the COVID-1984 scamdemic threw some wrenches into the gears of the Fydetab Duo development. (our words not his 😁)
Good news
- The Fydetab Duo has reach mass production status
- They were able to work out quite a few hardware gliches
- They were able to up the specs a little
Bad news
- It took longer than expected
- Due to the new global dynamics and inflation, there will be a slight increase in price on 2024 models.

It comes with FydeOS pre-installed which is based on Google's ChromiumOS, with Google's Android Playstore built in, so it runs Android apps out of the box.
This means it is a horrible privacy focused tablet from the factory.
The real appeal of this tablet is you can wipe the factory OS, and install Linux on it. The touch screen did not work in Debian . . . yet. And a tablet without touch is mostly useless. Time will tell if anyone gets touchscreen working.
