Rusty Rockets does an excellent jog showing how serious a violation of #privacy this is: the first personally clear example of how #surveillance systems and #IoT will be used against us if they are centrally controlled.
Do you wonder why the major companies are hysterically interested in moral issues suddenly? These companies are building totalitarian systems in the name of moral puritanism -- which has the worst of histories, btw. But it is so convenient to computer companies because they can make judgments by searching for keywords without considering context or being accountable or consistent with their behaviour. All in the name of #security and convenience.

Do they really care about the language you use? What about how much they pay their workers? That is a moral issue with financial consequences, which they don't trumpet that much. Come to think of it, #unions are illegal in Amazon, no?

Furthermore, RR also brings up the tight relationship between the state and these large entities, RR brings up the $10 billion contract the NSA has with #AWS #CloudComputing. So that gives them leverage too.

So while everywhere (even in #Scala land), people turn on one another for misgendering issues, those same people are all too willing to work on #AWS or make money from Big data aimed at eroding people's privacy to build totalitarian systems.

Still, the only way to stop this is to build similar answers with Decentralised Social Networks, of which the #fediverse is the beginning. That is what the #SolidProject I am working on is about.
