I see a lot of concern about criticizing liberal leaders for fear of the conservative one from getting in.

I get the concern, and it's a bigger one in the states.

But I also don't think we should pull punches in criticizing leaders for fear of the other getting elected.

My worry is that if the liberal leader thinks your vote is a lock in they will just move policy to the right to pick up those voters. In a way I think they do need to be worried about losing your vote on election day. Otherwise you'll just end up with a liberal leader implementing a conservative policy.

Which come to think of it, we are kind of there already in both countries.
