Ermil, a deacon, and Stratonic, a prison guard, were martyred for their Christian faith in 315 AD. Ermil boldly confessed Christ during a persecution in Singidunum (Belgrade). Stratonic, secretly a Christian, was moved by Ermil's courage and openly wept. Accused of being a believer, Stratonic refused to deny Christ. Both were tortured and ultimately drowned in the Danube.
