Venerable John Iacob the Romanian, after a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, settled in the Romanian Skete of Saint John the Baptist near the Jordan River, dedicating himself to prayer and asceticism. Later, he lived in a cave, fasting and writing spiritual poems. He reposed in the Lord in 1960, and his relics were found incorrupt.
