Why sats/banana?
The banana was the first fresh fruit that was standardized for export. Bananas were responsible for ‘banana republics’ where there was active foreign intervention to align a country economy to the export of bananas. (U.S., here’s looking at you!)
This hopefully is as indicative as the Economist’s Big Mac Index.
