4 in 10 active Nostr posters can't be zapped at all.
I surveyed 260 people who posted in the last 24 hours on 5 big relays (bridged fediverse accounts excluded) and tested their profiles live:
⚡ Lightning address
• 59% zap-ready ✅
• 39% have no Lightning address at all, so nobody can zap them, however good the post
• ~1.5% have one that's broken or takes payments but not zaps
(2 couldn't be tested from my network and are left out, not counted as broken)
🪪 NIP-05
• 50% don't set one (fine, it's optional)
• Of those who do: ~93% verify, but 9 are missing the CORS header web clients need, and 8 are broken or not listed
So the biggest leak in "value for value" isn't broken wallets. It's people who never added one. If you're new here: get a Lightning address from any wallet that offers one and paste it into your profile's lud16 field. That's the whole fix.
