So far I have built a capability to make payments and receive payments using a NFC card using nostr wallet connect. I also just built the capability of two safebox addresses to automatically bypass lighting for direct payments using secure gift-wrapped messaging.
So, the next step is to combine the two into an invisible card payment network that works completely with nostr/cashu and drops down to lightning when someone wants to pay outside the network or move funds.
An invisible payment rail that can use self-issued NFC cards? Who would have thought this as being possible? Now I know it is!
Onward!
quotingHere's another boring invisible capability I implemented. If #nostr #safebox detects another lightning address has a safebox behind it, it bypasses lightning completely. Instead, the payment is completed by issuing cashu tokens and securely transmitting via #nauth. The payee listens for payments and accepts the tokens as they come in.

As for the user, they just think it's a regular lightning payment. As for other lightning addresses, #nostr #safebox simply falls back to the lightning network.
Truly private payments! Onward!
