I also disagree that Satoshi chose Gavin to be a “leader.” He was merely trusted with the code repository. You can see how Gavin was uncomfortable being seen this way, and he made a lot of mistakes, including his support for Craig Wright, which he later disavowed.
Bitcoin has no leader, and should never succumb to one.
