For the first time in seven days, Taiwan has detected and tracked Chinese aircraft inside its ADIZ.

According to a statement from Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense:
“Two PLA aircraft, six PLAN vessels, and one official ship operating around Taiwan were detected as of 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. Two of the two aircraft sorties entered Taiwan’s southwestern ADIZ.”

No fighter jets or other military aircraft from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have been detected in or around Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) for the seventh consecutive day. According to Taiwan Monitor, this marks the longest gap since at least 2023.

The pause coincides with the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which is also approaching seven days, after U.S. and Israeli strikes against Iran began last Saturday.
