In the days of Diocletian, Hermes, a soldier, was imprisoned for his faith. An angel appeared to him, bearing a sword and promising victory if he remained steadfast. Brought before the emperor, Hermes remained firm, even after enduring scourging. Miraculously healed, he converted many, including a judge. Facing further tortures and refusing to deny Christ, Hermes was beheaded.
