Today we remember the #Brâncoveanu Martyrs: Constantin, his sons Constantin, Stephen, Radu, and Mathew.
In 1714, on the Feast of the #Ascension, Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu and his sons were imprisoned in Constantinople. Sultan Ahmed III demanded they renounce their #Christian faith in exchange for their lives. Constantin refused, encouraging his sons to remain steadfast. On August 15, 1714, all were beheaded. Constantin, the father, was last, so he wouldn't be discouraged by their death. Their steadfastness echoes through the ages.
Let us pray to these Holy Martyrs, that their courage inspires us to defend our faith and live according to God's will, no matter the cost. #OrthodoxSaints #RomanianOrthodox #Martyrdom
