My hot take is that we're just repeating what the industry experienced in the 50's when television "killed" Hollywood movies. Hollywood isn't going anywhere, and the real thing you should be concerned about is video games being assimilated into Hollywood like television was. Video games becoming more and more cinematic expressions while studios gradually get more video game adaptations out the door like The Mario Movie and Fallout.
While Dune 2 and it's predecessor are impressive movie wise, they do not spell some magical turn around for Hollywood. Capeshit is dead and they need a new fad to replace it. Dune ain't it, the reason both 1 and now 2 are doing so well is because they don't come around that often, they are events, spectacles, like LOTR and Harry Potter were. One singular series that cannot be spun off into a trend in the same vein as the MCU. Hollywood is in it's death throes, dune is just a particularly impressive dying moan as it thrashes around in bed.
