Contrary to earlier reports indicating that only the facade and select areas of the White House’s East Wing would be modified for President Donald J. Trump’s $250M State Ballroom, the White House has confirmed that the entire East Wing — originally built in 1902 and renovated in 1942 — will be demolished, with completion expected as early as Sunday.
The U.S. Treasury Department has ordered its employees not to photograph or record the ongoing demolition and construction work on the East Wing of the White House, which began earlier today as part of the initial phase of President Donald J. Trump’s planned $250 million State Ballroom project.
