On the 2nd of November, we remember Martyr Iuliu Veteranul, a Roman soldier during Diocletian's persecutions in 304 AD. Stationed in Durostorum, now Silistra, Bulgaria, he refused to participate in the pagan rituals honoring the emperor. For his unwavering faith, Iuliu was subjected to brutal tortures, enduring flogging and burning. When these failed to break his resolve, he was ultimately beheaded.
