Hieromartyr Antim the Ivirian, a Georgian by birth, became a bishop in Wallachia. He championed the Romanian language in liturgy and writing, establishing the first printing press and fostering education. His commitment to justice led him to confront the powerful Prince Brâncoveanu, who eventually ordered his exile and death in 1716. He was murdered by soldiers.
Holy Antim, pray to God for us!
