A grapevine relay / DVM that calculates Influence Scores for users as a service would only be able to operate on publicly available data. If you want to maintain trust attestations that you keep private, you’ll probably want to do all grapevine calculations locally on a machine that you trust with your private data.
So new users will use these public services bc they’ll be super easy and pretty damn good at curating content. Then they will progress to running open source software themselves so that they can utilize reputational data they want to keep private, so their content curation gets even better.
Ultimately, normies will come to nostr for the superior content curation, not bc of ideology.
