Yes, Russia is currently fighting wars in Africa, Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Central Asia, so that's reduced their export sales (they use the arms themselves or give them to allies).
HOWEVER
Russia has also lost contracts because of the sanctions (they struggle to produce high-tech weaponry without high-tech chips and German manufacturing know-how, and if you buy their stuff you often can't get replacement parts) and because their former biggest customers (China and India) are now also producing.
Also, some African countries have switched to Chinese production, as Russia is losing ground with the top-rated sources and is not as cheap as China. Also, China gives out loans for purchasing their arms.

I know that it's totally cool, on here, for every Nostr #dev to be a Lone Wolf 🐺, but I legit have no idea how we'd keep a project this size moving without a group of people.

What I like about this is that it's a good Kind 01 default "trendlist", that each npub can adjust to show their favorite stuff. Add the (read-only) algo.utxo.one relay to your relay list and then adjust the settings by logging into the associated https://algo.utxo.one website.
Anyone can then see what is trending, without client-vendor lock-in, and without being stuck seeing nothing but the same Big 10 npubs over and over, like the list has a stutter.

Exactly, clients should have a default community relay ("npubs who use Nostrudel" or "npubs who use Alexandria" is the community), which is targeted to the intended market.
Opening the client from an invite should switch it to displaying the relay defined in the invite, as that's the community encompassed by the invite, and it might not be the same as the client default.
Default relay selection is underrated UX.

This is a real problem, that client devs should address, by starting every new user off with a curated, publicly-readable relay feed that allows anyone logged-in to the client to zap and send reactions, but not necessarily note, reply, quote or DM.
You can also include a publicly-writeable relay for creating profiles and publishing notes, but don't necessarily make that the first feed newbies see, when they open up the app. They should have to purposefully opt-in to smut, junk, and spam. And they should have to pay or apply for access to the default feed.
Have, in other words, a client inbox/outbox model. They can use that, or define their own on their profile, and then switch to that.

You were this many days old, when you were informed that Nostr is newer high-tech than LLMs, and much newer than AI.
The idea that we devs don't understand how LLMs make Nostr irrelevant, is to fundamentally misunderstand how they are completely different things, and to discount the fact that we were working with LLMs before we started working on Nostr. If anything, Nostr is the only realistic attempt to save social media -- and the wider Internet -- from being turned into a total chatbot hellhole, by splitting the Internet up into pools of data that a human or group of humans can reasonably curate (on relays), and allowing us to assign trust values and authenticity affirmations to signed information and verifiable entities.
Google it.
Or, rather, don't. Google sucks now because they trashed their search engine with cheesy LLM bling, and their search results are increasingly just chatbot summaries and surreal hallucination-websites of events that never happened and things that don't exist.

You have to keep up with the Minibits app updates, including the big ones that you need to download and install yourself. Make sure you back up, beforehand. It's beta, so you should expect it to be a bit wonky.
Some problems might stem from the mint you're using. I usually stick with the mint.minibits.cash one because he's actively maintaining it and provides support.

I can help Nostr build the world's largest, most-decentralized, eventually-consistent-sorta data store, and have it actually work.
I cannot help Nostr do that while running buggy, neglected software. The software quality is the easiest systemic risk to reduce. That removes a lot of unnecessary noise from the system.
Nostr needs to decide if it is ready to grow up and enter the big leagues, or of it wants to remain a bunch of Toys for Boys.

I have never seen Nostr "smaller projects" not become the basis for the Nostr "larger projects". Even major rewrites don't help, for long, as the regressions immediately begin seeping in, and the entire architecture groans under the weight of its own inefficiency and ineffectiveness.
The crappy quality they begin with just stays that way, indefinitely, because those developers refuse to learn better engineering and are actively discouraged from doing so, by people who pay them to stay ignorant and amateurish, so that they can't steal the limelight from the Planned Winner.

At the moment, I manually test Firefox+nos2x and Chrome+NostrConnect on Linux desktop browser and Android. That seems like a good basis.
What about Safari? No idea, how #Alexandria looks on 🍎. And which other signers and browsers and OSs? Need things that are relatively common.

This is the framing we need. Nostr is not a company, but it is an ecosystem, and the ecosystem moves through the phases in a sort of clump. The success of one particular member of the clump will be short-lived, if they leave too many other members too far behind.
That's why we "waste" so much time on interop, specs, collaborations, forming and joining topic-excellence teams, etc.

I'm convinced that requiring business owners to front at least part of the capital (work, tools, money, etc.) is a major part of the magic of capitalism.
It forces them to be as efficient, as possible.
We find ourselves regularly making strategic or product decisions that seem stupid, in the moment, but save a lot of money, time or other resources, in the mid-term, because we're simply forced to save.
There is an equilibrium to be found, between starving coder and jet-setting dev. Need enough money coming in, to not burn out or give up, but not so much that money seems cheap.
The money being Bitcoin doubles down, on this effect, because Bitcoin is never cheap and spending it feels painful.

This is the thing that people who already own a lot of Bitcoin don't get.
The most valuable asset most people own is their car (no joke, and many people don't even own that). Some people "own" cars that are only worth $5000 or something, and they financed the purchase over multiple years. This works because banks and credit agencies accept cars as collateral on a loan.
You can use cars or houses, as collateral. Maybe stocks, but probably not. That's basically it. Many wage-earners -- even in wealthy countries -- can't just go to a bank and get a $100k loan to buy a Bitcoin. Even most companies can't.
Bitcoin is "only" at $100k, and it's already priced out of the market for almost everyone on the planet and that goes double for women or young people. And it's actually been that way since it was $10k.
And you didn't notice.

Here's what you don't get:
1) The investment in the data centers will still pay out because corporations, governments, and other organizations will want to outsource their AI work, but they don't want to outsource their data sets and algorithms to the wider Internet, or their potential competitors or enemies.
2) The dollar is set to fall in value, which makes all of these investment debts easier to pay back, because they are priced in dollars and will get cheaper. Big debt numbers sound big because you forget that soon all prices will also have more zeros.
3) THEY CAN USE THE GPUS AND THE NEW NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS NEXT DOOR TO MINE BITCOIN, YOU MORON.
4) Where computation takes place, on which machine, with which algorithm, trained by whom, and run by whom, matters a lot. That is, after all, why the Chinese are happy to have their own models, now, running on their own machines. They are no different than the Americans, or the EU. They know AI is opinionated.
5) The data centers are going to have amazing computing power, and not just normal chips. You have no idea what the heck they're cooking up in there, but they tend to hire the best people on the market and they are getting into some crazy stuff.
Do you have a quantum computer and an army of sys admins and data scientists on your phone? Yeah, didn't think so. Your AI will help you plan your next vacation. Their AI will be running the USA's new intelligent Iron Dome and self-directed space-mining.
6) End users running AI on their phone means WE ARE GONNA START WANTING GPUS IN OUR PHONES, LOL. You know how many friggin cellphones are out there? That is how many of these fancy schmancy new chips they'll sell... every couple of years.

Yes! The more, the merrier.
Our project has 3 alpha-testers, who check manually after we merge to the next-alexandria.gitcitadel.eu , but we need a higher standard of quality for alexandria.gitcitadel.eu . There's just an old prototype on there, right now, so that it's not empty.
The script will be for checking the most basic functions and timing the loading of particular documents. We're trying to find out how the relays respond, over more geographic areas and at different hours of the day, and how the client fares with different computers, signers, and browsers. There are often particular combinations that cause problems, and we can't cover all of them with our own test-efforts.

Perhaps this all needs to be clarified in the NIP. I also have had trouble implementing AUTH. It still doesn't work consistently, with some relays or clients I use, even though @nprofile…c6wa has been legit on top of things and trying to help me.
I'm not necessarily convinced that we need an extra notice. And it's been frustrating to see how slowly a relatively simple, important NIP has been propagated, and that might be due to a lack of clarity and completeness.

Professional software development seems to be getting harder with AI, not easier, as the scope of the functionality and the expectations on the features scales up with the tooling, and you need more and more behind-the-scenes architecture and whiz-bang magic tricks, and have to protect against increasingly clever attacks, and then you have to DevOps, QC, maintain, and iterate, all that crazy stuff. In parallel. While the interfaces you cover all constantly iterate.
It's just added a difficult dimension, to the back, and got rid of the easy dimension, in the front.
