Last Notes npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer afaiac the first 3 albums (RL, 2nd Hand and Soap ;-) are really worth listening to, even if it was just for John McGeogh. Enjoy! npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer Hang on in there, mate! Try to relax a bit in the weekend π» npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer That LFS will remain a distant dream I guess. After 11,5 hours I'm done. For now. Grub broke me π Had this sudden urge to yank in an iso and just install. Let's see what happens after lunch π npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer Chapter 6 out of 12 as we speak, preparing compilation tools π»π» npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer Reality check. I've watched a couple of videos tonight and I think I gotta give Linux From Scratch a go. Just because I can. See y'all next week! npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer A nice one to look forward to tomorrow morning for me. thnx Jay! npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer thanks mate! Happy to be still in touch over here, but it is a pity yes. If I've got some time this week I'll possibly setup a new account, the forum was just becoming more active again π» npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer Test driving the Zen browser today; guess we could all use some Zen, especially on the web. A Firefox clone, more focused on privacy but especially also speed. Some features from Floorp as well in there. It's an alpha but for me that didn't show at all. Check it out, for just straightforward browsing: https://github.com/zen-browser/desktop npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer No zealotry here, but did you try Bluefin, with their Framework specific images? https://projectbluefin.io I guess you did, if not it might be worthwhile checking out? No experience myself, but who knows π npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer Yep, Lunduke is a bit off sometimes π But at least he lets us form our own opinion, not by decree of a committee. The story of Chris (and the other contributors) is an amazing overview, and saddening as well. Great you put it out there. The total silence in the mainstream media over this is deafening. On we go! npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer I'm looking forward to that Ubuntu makeover with your Gnome; credit where credits are due: Tyler warned us about this 3 years ago π€£ npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer omg, he's back (again) π npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer it's a humid one here. Had a lot of rain last night. Gotta say Beyonce at Glastonbury was impressive, and the Eras tour as well. I hope I can still 'recognize' an outstanding performer, although it may not completely be my thing. npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer The sense of good music is largely lost on the Vietnamese youth. That's the old guy speaking. When i let my girlfriend listen to Robert Cray and explained to her why i like his music (the blues, drink, girls, you get it) her first response was: yes, just like you π. There's still hope. npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer When you insert the Ventoy, eager to install that iso, and it doesn't show up. npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer It's not better or worse; it has been there for a long time already. The divide between work and personal privacy is non-existent. What's different is the guts of MS to speak openly about it as a feature. But hey, call it AI and it's fine π€£ npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer Nah, let's agree to disagree on that one :birthdaymsn: npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer Everyone is so up in arms about the 'recall' that's about to be baked into Windoze. Let me remind you that, during the pandemic, this thing was already widely rolled out in Teams and used by almost every company to spy on their remote employees, keystrokes, activity and all. All companies conveniently forgot to turn that off, until now. And no, I am not a tin-foil hat kinda guy, just a realist. #Windows #privacy #Spyware npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer Me mumblin' at the screen: put that URL in a note. Thanks for the comeback, we'll muddle on π npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer @npub10v4β¦v3j2 Matt, is there a specific extension in Gnome you use to place application windows on specific workspaces? Like Ff always opens on 1, terminal on 2 etc.? I've tried out a couple, like Automove Windows, but I'd like the focus to move with it. Possibly you found a better one? #gnome_extensions npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer But of course we never use those overlays anyway. At least we shouldn't, but that's not IRL π€£ That's what i like about BlueBuild, i 'bake' those items into my image beforehand. npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer Note to myself (after reinventing the wheel): on MicroOS you can layer applications by using 'sudo transactional-update pkg install {program-name}'. Big gripe by users is you have to reboot, and with 6 or 7 programs that's annoying (htop, fastfetch, mc, micro, you get it). So: install the first program with the command above, don't reboot. Then install the others one by one with: 'sudo transactional-update --continue pkg install {program-name}'. When finished with all reboot. Done. npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer it does, i was surprised as well: http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=7695 npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer We can't have you leaving gnome for such a banality π€£ Gimp? npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer Because Gnome knows better. No need for you to have your files in any reasonable amount of time. npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer An observation that extends way beyond just note taking π npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer No, i wouldn't wait that full year. It's not edged in stone, that timeframe. I think it's a sensible thing to do whenever you get the feeling it's necessary. The gains far outweigh the grind imho npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer Well, you're almost a year in, that's the usual moment for me as well to do a nuke and pave. You'll be happily surprised with the regained snappiness. npub170qy98jywm5v8qz73n4nejdhjqyutk2atp5u6qruu7tz0hr4s5gqlwawr2 thesaigoneer keep going mate, soon you wouldn't want without it!
