So, we ended up having photovoltaic panels installed. Not to resell as primary objective, but to use it ourself. State subsidies our corner of the world are quite high, why not? It’s a good time of the year to start producing, although our roof is not the perfect orientation, we still manage to produce about 3 times what we consume per day. We’re getting paid less than peanuts what we inject ( because of subsidies) but we know somebody is using it and it came from our roof, not some “plant”. Silly but makes me feel better

I buy every month a few 0.00x Bitcoin. I did raise it a little this month. My wife invited me to it. She’s not techy, nor has a Bitcoin wallet, but she listens to some shows that clearly say Bitcoin is the new Gold, they are comparable, and with gold too, you never lose on the long term. I dislike intraday trading and all the perversions stocks introduced like short trading. That should be illegal as far as I am concerned.

What I gathered when you use a Lightning wallet is that you first have to fund it with Bitcoin, coming from a proper Bitcoin transaction, its fees and settling time. Once the transfer is done, you have a certain amount of sats to spend on the Lightning network. I setup for fun and to learn this better couple of nodes in the past couple days. One is personal, one made to be public for anyone to have a wallet. Kinda Believe in this

Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally new to Lightning. I used to mine Bitcoin with my GPU when wiping a drive and forgetting a wallet there meant you lost a few cents ;) But then dropped interest till not long ago.
Bitcoin transactions do have a price, but 16% percent I kind of believe it to be quite high

I’m really loving this. I subscribe to the news / content I want, nobody asks me for who I am, what’s my pedigree, how tall I am. I can interact freely and even tip who I want. No ads. Been looking for this for a while.

Was looking to some alternatives, each I tried, the above and Matrix too, installed an instance.
Couldn’t find much to follow. You still want your daily feed of news and community interaction, but couldn’t find much of a community in any of those. Maybe, surely, didn’t it right or didn’t let it mature enough. Nevertheless, the Nostr concept of connecting to relays seems pretty good to me.

Hello all, something not clear to me. I “05-nipped” (yes, it’s a term ;) ) my account to have it verified, yet I can see two “types” of accounts showing up in the timeline, like in the screen attached. One shows up just with a name, the other with the @xxx part. Anybody knows why?

#TechTip, in case you’re a Nostr relay noob like me.
I thought about starting my own relay (nostr-rs-relay) and made it egoistically private, only my events are preserved. (I’m now thinking about a public instance but really need to weight the resources needed, won’t be a paid relay).
In the config.toml make sure that the pubkey you add to the whitelist array is in hex format and doesn’t start with “npub”. Thought it worked the same but didn’t. Silly me.

Honestly, had never expected such a greeting, thank you all!
So this thing is actually real.
Been testing various open source platforms these last days, Mastodon, Misskey, etc. you know these. Was looking for a good alternative to what other “free with ads” platforms were giving which I didn’t like anymore. Got an instance running for everyone one of them, I guess I could keep only the Nostr relay now ;)
